Experts, restorers and dealers of fine French bows and rare violins
Having obtained a National Supérieur d’arts Plastiques degree from the Beaux Arts in Paris, François followed his passion for violins by specializing in stringed instrument restoration and expertise. He established his first shop in Paris in 1989.
Since the age of three Ian knew he wanted to dedicate his life to the violin. Following a career of performing around the world, he has turned his lifelong passion and knowledge of the violin to the study, expertise and restoration of fine stringed instruments and French bows.
Our Atelier, founded in 1994 on a shared passion for exceptional musical instruments and bows, is located in the heart of Paris' luthier district. We provide a select choice of rare stringed instruments, bows and services to musicians worldwide, from students to renowned soloists, patrons and collectors.
Whatever the price range, all of our fine instruments are carefully chosen for their exceptional condition and sound quality.

We have a permanent stock of rare and exceptional stringed instruments: violins, violas, cellos and bows. We pride ourselves on finding the instrument that perfectly suits the musician's style of playing: classical, jazz, bluegrass, old-time, celtic music... As great instruments never go down in value, our instruments are guaranteed with a unique, 100% upgrade policy so that our buyer's investment is never lost.
Our workshop is known for its high standard of work. We undertake extensive restorations as well as repairs, regular maintenance and adjustments using the skills acquired thanks to over 40 years of experience. Along with sourcing the finest quality materials for our work, we carry on a centuries-old tradition of French and Italian lutherie. By matching woods, varnishes and glues as well as using the finest Mongolian horsehair to rehair our bows, we strive to ensure optimum preservation of each fine instrument and bow.
Our Certificates of Authenticity are honored the world over and are based on decades of experience in the world of fine instruments and bows as well as the latest research tools and technology. To determine a first valuation and appraisal, free of charge, send us photos of your instrument or bow by email. See our guidelines below for further details. To establish full certification we require the instrument for an in-person assessment.
